This bike is designed for lightweight bike-packing, able to tackle ultra-distances on mixed terrain. Despite being already expansive, the Genesis Bikes brand continues to grow, with the British genesis bike company striking out even further to the gravel/adventure cross market. Some customers might prefer disc brakes to be installed on both wheels, but that would result in a much higher cost.

Finally, if you want to build your absolute dream machine, the Volare and Volare Disc framesets are available in both Reynolds 853 and 931 tubing options. Next up is the endurance-focused Zeal, which is full carbon, so you can ride longer and faster with less effort. If you’re a roadie, Genesis has a few models for genesis mountain bike you to consider. They have a program called BikesGiving where they ask customers to log their miles over the course of a year. When everyone turns in their miles on October 31, Genesis gives a penny per mile to a charity that’s hyper-local. Last year, the Children’s Home of Easton received a check for $2,460.
Ostensibly, this is a more budget-oriented version of the Vapour Carbon. The aluminium frame is cheaper, although the genesis mountain bike fork is still carbon. Disc brakes remain present, but they have been changed to mechanical rather than hydraulic.
Genesis bikes are desirable because they feature high-quality frames with long warranties. These bikes are also enjoyable to ride and are available in a number of sizes, scopes, and kinds at reasonable rates. The Datum comes with 32c tyres, which is a bit closer to the ‘road’ end of the spectrum.
The Vapour is Genesis’ CX race machine and there are three models available (10, 20 and 30). There’s the option of having a full carbon frame at the higher end of the spec too, or a more affordable version with an aluminium frame and carbon fork. The Equilibrium and Equilibrium Disc are also endurance/sportive-focused bikes, and come with a steel frame and carbon fork. The steel makes for a super comfortable ride, while the carbon reduces some of the weight. Giant is the largest manufacturer of quality bicycles in the world.
Other bikes might have the specificity to perform better in a single one of these uses, but very few bikes would be able to perform as well as the Croix de Fer in all of them. It is the combination of a vast array of mounts, a robust steel frame and wide tyre clearances that allow this bike to be such a jack of all trades. A solid steel range and a smattering of aluminium and carbon models brings the brand bang up to date. Moving into the racier end of the spectrum, the Zero and Zero Disc are full-carbon road bikes with aggressive geometry.
For those interested in dipping their toes into racing, or just want a sportier feeling bike, the Zeal range is Genesis’ entry level carbon option. The geometry is more aggressive than the endurance-oriented Equilibrium, but not quite as ‘head-down bum-up’ as the dedicated racers that are the Zeros. From a bike of this range, the models are very satisfactory.
The Day One is still made by Genesis as a daily urban racing bike for enthusiasts of tradition. It’s now available in a steel version with extra city comforts. Since 2013, Genesis has been the bike manufacturer and main sponsor of the Madison Genesis bike racing team, which has grown from strength to strength, creating some of the UK’s most popular bikes for all occasions. Some adventures are about taking your time and drinking in your surroundings, others are about getting there fast.
