We wisely dismounted on the steepest uphills and also walked one suicidal downhill. Besides my one crash in a deep washout, we survived the worst trail in the area and had a blast. For just a bit more at $1,799, the dual batteries, significantly higher power/speed, hydraulic disc brakes, and a pile of other features blow this Kent bike away. But kent road bike Lectric’s model is also a folding fat tire e-bike and won’t fulfill the trail bike role that Kent’s offering here claims to satisfy. With a price of $1,498, Kent’s mid-drive e-bike certainly isn’t competing with the several thousand dollar models that use German mid-drive motors, and so it likely opts for a Chinese motor. That isn’t a bad thing, as many riders (including myself) have been very happy with lower-cost mid-drive motors.
I have seen them just laying down in the grass beside a sidewalk. The bikes were a wonderful way to get around even if you are not that fit. There are some big hills which would have been a nightmare on ordinary bikes. The sense of freedom was wonderful and it was one of the best days out this year.
I have a Truckrun motor on my daily rider city e-bike, and it works wonderfully. The Kent Torpedo kid’s electric bike is easy to control and maneuver, making it ideal for kids who are new to biking.
