Coleman Instant Up 8 Person Darkroom Tent with LED Grey & Silver

Should the weather turn hot, the large windows on both sides of the tent and door paired with the two top vents allow plenty of air to run through. Because there is no wind/rain cover the Abco Tech pop up tent is not as waterproof as the Coleman and is better coleman sundome for fair weather weekend camping. Your average instant camping tent and pop-up tent will have fiberglass tent poles. Quick setup tents, often referred to simply as “instant tents” or sometimes “rapid tents,” come with poles that are already attached.

I had one joint break which happened to be a corner joint and no parts were available and that they would be back orders for over a month. Great tent, easy to put up, but the only problem is the plastic joints break and are hard to replace. The graph below demonstrates the impact these tents have caused. By the spring of 2014 we see interest in Instant tents start to equal that of the immensely popular Dome tent that is now starting to decline in popularity. The tent has the Coleman WeatherTec system in place but upon further review of it, it doesn’t seem to work that well on this one.

There is plenty of space around under the windows so they missed the opportunity to make this tent far more livable. The problem may appear with vertical flaps when you have rain and strong wind which can force water to move to the sides and under the flaps tp the zippers. So my point is that I would not rely on this system as fully waterproof, although it really looks great and durable.

Ozark Trail is another brand that offers a wide range of well-crafted, large-capacity quick tents. These tents should have the ability to be pitched in a fraction of the time of a regular tent. Although you can usually pitch them alone, this type of tent is easier to assemble when there’s more than one set of hands. So, I like to make sure that any tent I’m buying will be able to keep me dry whatever the weather decides to do.

The Instant Tent 6 is also lacking a couple of other features that would help it compete with several similar tents. There’s also no room divider, but this was less of a priority given the lack of entryways. Our other main issue was the lack of a vestibule, which means that in the case of a sudden rainstorm, there will be no dry area to store your wet clothes before entering the tent. And although we did like the two deployable vents on the roof, you’ll want to make sure to keep those closed if the weather is at all questionable since they are liable to let rain into the tent. When people ask me what affordable instant tent they can buy for small weekend outings I always suggest the Coleman pop up tents.

Then do the same for the side poles, and you are done with the basic set up. You might want to check this Red Canyon 8 tent from the same brand, with almost 16 square meters of floor area, or this WeatherMaster 6 with a large screen room. This is a nice feature here; you have a divider that offers some privacy. The divider is with a central zipper, and you can roll it up and fix on the ceiling when you do not need it; you can do this with each of its two wings separately.

The steel gives the corner legs a strong foundation for the fiberglass poles to be housed in. Reducing leaks by using inverted stitches, covers over the zippers, taped seams, and a fully welded / reinforced bathtub floor, you should have zero issues with rain entering this shelter. With your tent pretty much assembled at this point, you can pull the corners down to coleman ice chest make it taught. Finally, use the included stakes to secure the corners and guy lines to the ground. Aside from pop-up tents, the “instant style” is the fastest pitching kind on the market. You have to attach the ridge pole over the roof pole in a cross formation, which then slips into side pockets on the roof’s canopy to give it a structurally sound dome shape.

This tent pops into shape in under five minutes and only needs one person to set it up. What’s more, it offers two storage pockets that are roomy enough to fit a wallet, a phone, an e-reader, a couple of headlamps, and even a mini children’s audio player and headphones. The price of an instant tent can vary widely depending on the size and design. If you plan to camp in bad weather, I recommend adding an extra layer of protection by ordering their partial coverage rainfly too.
