No matter which mode you choose, there’s no glare, and the lantern is lightweight yet sturdy enough to withstand frequent use and inclement weather. With the handle, you can carry it in your hand or hang it from a tent hook or tree branch. Alternatively, just set it on the ground or a table. The way you set up your campsite could make or break the whole trip.
The Spot’s highest setting is 400 lumens, which we found we didn’t need most of the time. For dog walks and evenings at camp, the middle setting (200 lumens) did just fine. (This also made the battery last longer.) The lowest setting is 6 lumens, which is bright enough to read a map by.
Wet weather is common to the Ozark climate, especially in late spring through summer, and fosters a breeding ground for bugs, mosquitos, and ticks. Consider bringing waterproof shoes and treating your clothes ahead of time with permethrin to repel insects. In the colder seasons insulating layers are a must, and a good rain shell for you and rain fly for your tent are necessary year-round.
A brute on the scorecard, but this long par 3 plays drastically downhill. Adjust your yardages to account for the change in elevation. A large ridge runs down the middle of the green with the left side serving as the high side. Thanks to the mesh on the back and seat of the chair, your body can enjoy refreshing air circulation even if you sit down on a hot day. With two cup holders, you won’t run out of drinks anytime soon, and the cooler beneath the left-hand cup holder is deep enough to hold snacks, books, etc. If you want to eat there, the wide arms may be able to hold a small plate.
No matter how you use it, the inside is large enough to cook a decently sized meal for a few people. The oven is perfectly molded to distribute heat evenly so that all the food is cooked proportionally. Thanks to the cast iron, it’s also highly durable, and guaranteed to last for years. The great thing about camping is that it’s entertaining, rejuvenating, and adventurous all at once.
ozark trail backpackTwo center-line bunkers in the fairway split the hole between the low left side and the high right side. Staying left gives you a shorter distance to the hole, but the right side of the fairway gives you an elevated look to the green without having to carry the greenside bunkers on your approach. Don’t get distracted by the waterfalls in the background! This downhill par 3 features a heart-shaped green with plenty of trouble on all sides. A flowing creek off to the right feeds into a large pond to the left of the green with additional cascading falls and a bunker beyond the hole.
