Again, because of the slant of the walls, I do also have to duck quite a bit to get in and out of the tent. In this section you will find a number of tents that are what could call “well rounded” generally speaking they have better than average ratings, most are what you would call mid sized. One thing they all have in common is a low price per square foot compared to other Coleman tents. This is a great tent to bring along for the kids or some extra covered storage, but not ideal for the entire family. At only 56 sq ft, this will be tight quarters, and should the rain come, spending a full day in this tent will test everyone’s strength.

Yet another better option is to use bunk beds, at least for kids; the walls are steep here and the tent is so high, so it is easy to put such bunk cots inside. This is a very stable freestanding structure which you can pitch on any terrain, literally, and you can move it around when it is set up. So you do not have to stake it out, but stakes and guylines are included and do not miss doing this whenever possible.
The Cabin has three large windows, easy access vents in the ceiling (these are accessible from inside the tent thanks to zippers in the ceiling), and two storage pockets. The only ding on the windows is that they have no ties or way to secure them once opened, so they are left to simply dangle. The walls are almost vertical, so this together with such a great height and huge windows gives an impression of a home comfort. The frame is like 6 spider legs, they all converge to the central point on the roof. Both the top poles and the side poles are straight, so the walls are also straight and almost vertical.

I own a somewhat embarrassingly large collection of tents for camping—some from my backpacking days, while some are from when I switched to family car camping. However, I wouldn’t say that Coleman has the best instant tent mechanism, at least for this tent. Sometimes, one of the elbow joints of the poles would jam and won’t prop up properly, and I’d have to fold it back up and try to prop it back up again. After about 3 hours of light rain, I noticed that no water seeped through the bathtub flooring, and it was still dry, which was great.
Each “room” can then fit either 5 sleeping pads or sleeping bags, or 2 queen-sized beds. One room, on the left side of the tent, will have 3 windows and the hinged D-door, while the coleman instant tent other room will have 2 windows and the other door. The mattresses that I used in this tent are slightly smaller than queen size, but almost queen sized (give or take a few inches).
All of these heavy-duty materials add a great deal to the weight—at nearly 25lb, this is the heaviest tent in our 2021 review. However, this was not a bother to us, as this tent really only needs to be transported from the car to the impact pad, and we’d rather heft a few extra pounds than sacrifice durability. There’s no included footprint with this tent, and we’d recommend purchasing either a 9’x9’ or 10’x10’ footprint, which unfortunately is not offered by Coleman. You can also save quite a bit of money by opting for a tarp instead. These will run you anywhere from $10-20, depending upon your desired level of quality. The Instant Tent 6 is also lacking a couple of other features that would help it compete with several similar tents.
I felt the most comfortable in this tent in the hot summer days, compared to my other 10-person tents. But when it’s raining, the rainfly provides very little rain protection, because it’s quite small (and its main purpose is to protect only the ceiling mesh). On top of that, the tent body slants outwards a bit, so the water drips onto the window or door mesh directly. Introduced in 2014 Coleman’s Pop up Tent is available in two different sizes.
