I bought this tent on clearance at WalMart a few years ago. It doesn’t leak, it has held up in severe storms, and it takes all of 3 minutes to set it up, and another 5 to put the rain fly on. I have had MANY tents (3 stay at home while I use this one), and the Ozark First-up is a definite keeper! In the beginning, the spring-loaded mechanism is very tight… Might need some help the first couple of uses to get the mechanism pulled down into place.
It is made with a steel construction frame and polyester material for the canopy, which is in line with just about every shade tent on the market today. The weight of this Ozark Trail is lighter than most of the same size alternative steel frame canopy tents, coming in right about 29 lbs. An argument can be made as to whether this is good or bad. From a positive perspective, the lightweight design increases portability which is certainly important in carrying the tent to its intended location.
The legs are locked into place with old school metal push button locks, something you won’t see on many modern pop up tents now-a-days. These push locks get very difficult to use over time, especially if the tent is used on the beach and exposed to sand and saltwater, causing rust build up. Many newer tent brands like EZ-Up use revolutionary thumb lock sliders or larger easy to release buttons, which are a much better user experience when setting the canopy up or taking it down. With the push buttons you need to worry about pinching fingers or not being able to release the button when it gets rusted, which is never a pleasant experience. The legs extend to give the top peak a height of about 8’10” which will be plenty of headroom for anyone underneath. The Ozark Trail canopy very well might be one of the best selling 10×10 tent brands of all time.
Thought it was the best tent ever until we used it with a decent wind blowing. The problem I had was that the hinges in the poles kept unlocking and the tent would collapse in on us until the wind died down a bit and we could push it back out. We remove the brim from the part and do a little bit of clean up. Normally this is where I need to go back and make adjustments to the measurements but this time it slides right on with a snug fit. Not very often do I get the measurements right on the first go but this time it worked out perfectly.
It sticks to the classics, with a very traditional design that works. There may not be many bells and whistles, but we don’t think it’s necessary here. We think this is the biggest standout in relation to how different this model is to others on the market.
With bonus stakes, guylines, and a wheeled carry bag, you’re certainly getting value for your money. With 100ft² of ground space, multiple people can stand or sit comfortably inside ozark trail chair without feeling cramped. It’s also enough room to put a standard table, some picnic chairs, and a cooler or two. With these openings, it gives the wind somewhere to go.
Its 112-inch center height gives you plenty of room to create an entertainment space for your outdoor furniture and guests. Whether you are hosting a barbecue, attending a sporting event, or spending a day at the beach, you will be able to take your 10-foot by 10-foot Ozark Trail Instant Canopy anywhere. The canopy fabric is made of a lightweight denier polyester, offering water resistant features and 50+ UPF, which we love. Being protected from the suns harmful UVB rays is probably why you wanted a canopy tent in the first place, and this Ozark Trail tent meets all criteria in this department.
The easily recognizable logo has been seen by nearly everyone at youth soccer tournaments or beach vacations in recent years. The Ozark Trail Commercial Canopy is packed with the features that you need. The frame is powder coated aluminum and steel with push button locking on the frame and height adjustments. The heavy 400D polyester top provides 99% UV protection and is water and fire resistant. There are 4 walls included and one of the walls has a zipper in the center for easy access under the canopy.
