Schwinn Sidewinder eBike Review Tower 100-Point E-Bike Scoring

This helps keep the battery dry if you get caught out in the rain. So, if you commute, or you frequently run errands, an e-bike can save you a lot of gas, and get you outside more. So now that we’ve waxed philosophic about e-bikes, let’s get to the Coston CE. When you’re a parent of two who works from home, this sort of quick trip to the store can happen fairly often. Normally, I’d hop in my car and zip down to the store, but this summer, I was able to stop using my car and start using my bike for almost everything.

The bike should have an estimated range of 18 miles without pedalling. The features like the neat integrated lighting are rarely seen in the industry and are a definite win. And the build quality feels like it should stand the test of time. Schwinn’s electric bicycle line has significantly expanded over the last couple years.

More powerful than all the other Schwinn e-bikes, the Coston DX has a 360Wh battery with a 45-mile range and a top speed of 20mph. Overall, the Schwinn Ridgewood electric bike is a solid choice for riders who value performance, comfort, and durability. With its powerful motor, adjustable seat height, and lightweight design, this bike is sure to provide an enjoyable ride.

Schwinn produces excellent entry-level bikes for the standard e-bike newbie. Most of their e-bikes are affordable, especially compared to leading competitors, giving you an excellent opportunity to get into the industry without a ton of investment. Different components are present through the Mendocino, including the Shimano Tourney rear derailleur and Shimano REVOSHIFT 6-speed, twist shifters.

The integrated lights are an added bonus, ensuring that you can ride safely at night. The bike arrived in a standard bike box, but that was housed within an even larger outer box to protect the contents. It took me about an hour to unpack the bike, remove all the protective packaging and then assemble it. The one potential problem is the weight of the bike, with the rear hub motor (from CZJB motor maker) and the in-frame battery already in place.

Secondly, the display is quite simple for a bike in this price range. Lastly, there may be some limitations when it comes to steep surfaces, so keep that in mind if you plan on tackling hilly areas. The battery is a 288 watt-hour battery built with cells which takes about 4 hours to charge. The Marshall looks like a mountain bike with a comfy cruiser feel to it.

The riding position is comfortably upright but still able to lean into things off-road. It still lets you stand if you’re trying to get up a particularly steep part of a hill or over a rough section on the trail. Then cruising city streets the higher pedal assist schwinn beach cruiser and gears help you get up to the 20mph pedal assist limit. It’s easy to switch through the 7 gears with the twist or grip shift. I had to adjust my derailleur a bit on the first ride out so all the gears hit just right but once it was adjusted it was smooth.

So grab your helmet, hop on the Ridgewood, and cruise around with ease. All three of the new Schwinn ebike models have step-thru and standover versions, 20mph speed limit and 250-watt brushless geared hub drive motor. Its throttle was so lackluster and slow — especially when compared with other bikes of a similar price class — that it sometimes didn’t feel like it was powered at all. Once you’re up to speed and cruising on a flat surface, the ride quality feels smooth and reasonably quick, but the motor struggles up moderate hills. And when it comes to serious hills, the Coston gets left far behind other e-bikes. These bikes are built well and offer lifetime warranties, so you know you’ll get a long-lasting product.

Schwinn states that its range is around 45 miles on a single charge, but we all know that this number depends on a wide variety of factors. The Mendocino also has a KMC chain, a basic Shimano Tourney derailleur, and RevoShift shifters. Additionally, the frame is one-size-fits-all, underscoring its attractiveness as a cost-effective option. The 250 watt motor can’t push much up bigger hills but it’s a lovely help when you’re pedalling. I spend most of my time on dirt roads in assist level 2 in 2nd or 3rd gear. For the big hills it was a quick shift to the nice, easy first gear.
