Schwinn Coston DX Review

These step-through frames are as comfortable as ever, with a host of features to make your first-ever e-bike ride as smooth as possible. I recently had the opportunity to take a closer look at the Schwinn Ridgewood electric bike, and I must say, I’m impressed. With its powerful performance and lightweight yet durable design, the Ridgewood is a great option for both city commuting and trail riding.

Respectfully, most of the e-bikes you find online come from companies with alphabet-soup for names that may sell just as many portable batteries as they do e-bikes. As we are a small company, we need your help with customer support. We encourage you to search schwinn beach cruiser online and only email us if you think that you can’t get an answer of your question from anywhere else. Youtube and Facebook groups are a great resource to get answers. Please help us so that we can keep providing you the best products at the best price.

The bike is optimized to provide users with comfortable upright positions. It has a handlebar-mounted LCD, showing a number of parameters. This bicycle has a thumb pad controller for selecting the level of pedal assistance.

Schwinn offers a limited lifetime warranty for the frames of all its electric bicycles. If any problems occur to your e-bike’s frame because of a defect in the manufacturing of said frame, then Schwinn will replace it entirely for you. However, you will need to return the frame to Schwinn at your own expense.

These bikes are best on pavement, and offer a super comfortable ride and totally upright position, making them ideal for older riders or those with limited mobility. These frames also feature a step-through design which makes it super easy to get onto or off of the saddle. I mostly used the motor in pedal-assist mode, though I will cover the throttle in the next section. The motor on this bike is very aggressive in that is starts up quickly with even the slightest movement of the pedal, and it goes hard. When riding with level 5 assistance my pedals were free-spinning most of the time even on the highest gear.

This model has LED lighting on the battery for easy monitoring. It features a headlight and taillight to enhance visibility and accelerates to hit a top speed of 20 mph. Schwinn’s electric bikes are designed for beginners and first-time e-bike riders. But they are also perfect for experienced riders who want to get around town or tow some luggage a little bit easier. Another consideration to keep in mind when choosing an e-bike (or any bike for that matter) is your height. Schwinn has electric bikes that fit riders from 4’8″ all the way up to those who are 6’4″.

In 1967, the company changed its name to Schwinn Bicycle Company. The manufacturer went through many ups and downs throughout the following years, usually coinciding with different bicycle booms in the United States. Unfortunately, labor problems and rising costs of production schwinn ebike led to the company filing for bankruptcy in 2001. The biggest difference between the Coston CE and the Marshall are the lights, fork, and accessories. The Schwinn Marshall is a step-through and standover hybrid designed for commuting and light adventuring.

Press and hold the “+” button for three seconds to switch on the headlight. Too many are simply trying to capitalize on affiliate revenue. And often they review only the products that provide the most kickbacks when you buy. Until 2004, all Schwinn bicycles were made in the United States. However, after being purchased by Dorel Industries in 2004, the company moved its manufacturing plants to China and Taiwan to save costs.

Schwinn are now in their second generation of ebikes with the Marshall, Coston CE and DX. I think the battery built into the bottom tube looks cool. Most ebikes just have a big battery hanging off the bottom tube.

If the bike is NOT built by a certified bike shop mechanic, any warranty will be VOID. We will request for an assembly receipt as proof of professional installation. Despite my weight and the strain it put on the motor, I found that the bike really does have a 45-mile range on a single charge. I didn’t have a chance to precisely time how long the battery takes to charge from empty but it recharged completely overnight or during a full workday. When buying a bike, it’s important the one you purchase fits you correctly. Making sure this is the case might mean visiting a local bike shop that carries it and either giving it a test ride or just seeing which size is right for your height.
