If you’re an advanced rider, you’ll probably find the V2100 a little boring, so we’d advise you to keep looking. On the whole, though, we’re glad that the company went to so much effort in making a bike that performs well at such an affordable price. It makes an excellent commuter bike because it can handle some punishment. The tires grip the asphalt well, and you can get up to a nice speed—so if you oversleep, you’ll have a good chance of still getting to work on time. If your tastes tend more toward a leisurely ride in the country, this bike is going to suit you well. We’d also want to swap those out for something better pretty quickly.
Genesis is known for offering budget-friendly bikes that cater to a wide range of riders. They provide a decent quality for the price, making them a suitable choice for beginners or recreational riders who are not looking to invest in high-end bikes. The Equilibrium and Equilibrium Disc are also endurance/sportive-focused bikes, and come with a steel frame and carbon fork. The steel makes for a super comfortable ride, while the carbon reduces some of the weight.
I’m honestly not sure if it was just my bike, or if all of these bikes are that way, but it gave just enough, but not too much suspension in the rear. It was sub $200 and offered a lot for the price, as we will talk about here in a moment. It’s very easy for someone who hardly knows how to assemble a bike. But for its relatively narrow 26″ x 2.1″ tires, riding in the mud was a bigger challenge. So we came to the relatively dry, stone-paved forest road single track. After I felt comfortable with it, I aimed for a short uphill at about 50° or so. But I stood on the pedals and pedaled hard, not expecting the forward pedaling to be that strenuous. It was a stalemate for about 30 seconds, and without any incident, I fell off the bike.
