Ozark Trail 12-Person Base Camp Tent with Light Incredibly Affordable

It had been quite a while since either of us had hiked in and camped away from a designated camping area. I had to break out my Kelty pack, just big enough for a quick weekend getaway. Combined with Ben’s even smaller pack, we managed to fit enough gear, food and water to get through at least one night out.

Do NOT phone in the guyline portion of set-up (regardless of the weather) or you’ll risk damaging the tent. Finally, the material of this shelter is noticeably higher quality than many Ozark Trail tents, but the 68D polyester is still not as thick as we’d like. No Ozark Trail tent is perfect, but as far as full-size family camping tents go, this is the one to beat.

Though it is a cabin-style tent, the slanted walls will give it more wind resistance than a typical cabin tent. Weighing only 16.81 lbs it is one of the lighter tents on this list, but will be one of the easiest to set up in 5-10 minutes. So do not make a mistake to compare its price with some of those expedition or winter tents that look similar in style.

This tent features nine windows and a mesh ceiling for ventilation as well as three entryways. The assembled weight of this tent is 43.7 pounds, and it’s suitable for three seasons, excluding winter. It includes three e-ports, a sizeable movable movie screen ozark trail wagon with a hanging media pocket, and a clip-in gear loft. If your camping trip plans involve a large family, there are options out there that don’t just include an RV or a cheap motel. It can fit two queen-sized airbeds with a center height of 6 feet.

What you have here is a summer camping tent for quiet weather conditions without much rain. The manufacturer describes it as a 3-season tent but I would not take this seriously. Capacity-wise, the tent is declared suitable for 12 people but this number is not realistic for a real camping because you do not have any storage area here. But the total floored area is indeed huge, 201 ft² (18.7 m²), and this gives 16.7 ft² (1.56 m²) per person if used by 12 people. I think it works totally fine in fair weather, so you can take the rainfly off and open all the windows for a decent amount of ventilation. It definitely won’t be great in strong winds, heavy rain, or even light rain though.

Light wind and rain should be fine, but you’ll want to take some steps to prepare for both (more on that below). This shelter may be the least expensive in our roundup, but it still packs some sweet features worth noting. It’s a great spot to stash your “middle of the night bathroom break” shoes and anything else you don’t want taking up space ozark trail canopy inside the tent. The Ozark Trail 4 Person Instant Dome Tent is an excellent choice for families and novice campers. It removes much of the hassle from pitching a tent so you can spend more time enjoying the great outdoors. Yes, Core is an excellent tent brand, especially for family camping tents. They are not as portable as some other tent brands, but they are weather-resistant, durable and excellent value for money. Coleman is another affordable camping gear brand that also produces a lot of the same style tents as Ozark Trail.

I don’t think this Ozark Trail 10-Person Tent will do very well against strong winds. It rained for about an hour while I was using this Ozark Trail 10-Person Cabin Tent, with about 20 minutes of moderate rainfall and about 40 minutes of pretty light rain. Apart from the roof though, there’s not a lot of mesh from the 5 windows and the door, because they’re not very big. The door has 2 zippers for the bug net, and 2 for the door itself. The zipper quality is not the best, it’s a little bit noisy, and it always, always snags from the outside because of this green rain cover. There are 210 square feet of living space and a room divider, so you can easily create separate rooms for 14 people or just separate your living and sleeping areas.
