I bought two of these tents new last year from a yard sale. The were never opened by the seller. We have only been using one since. After a pretty bad storm at the beach, a few of the poles broke…so we are moving onto the next new one and selling the first for parts. The campground received a moderate rain on the second night and the roof collected water in several places, causing the screen house to collapse. This was not a heavy rain by any means as no other shelters or tents collapsed.
Just had to comment after reading these old reviews of folks who couldn’t seem to set it up without either A. It take 2 people at least to set this screen house up. Tried to buy replacement parts but they were discontinued. Repaired the cracked gable ozark trail sun shelter with duct tape and was able to use it one more time but then gave up on the cracked part and bought another smaller screen room. Had I have known that this particular screen house was so hard to find, I would have bought a kit and tried to repair it.
Not sure if I should order replacement parts or not, maybe I should just consider this a waste of money, and cut my losses while I can. This product from the list of stuff that I wish I never had bought it would in the top two. Setting up the screenhouse you need an army of people to hold the frame in place to put the screen over.
As stated above, durability and materials are the main pain point of Ozark Trail tents. 2 guys hooked in the rear corners while 2 of us bent the poles (erecting the tent upright) into place and hooked them in the front corners. We then attached quick clips, while 2 guys took the rainfly, put it into place, and put in the rainfly pole. We then finished staking the tent down and guying out the tent and rainfly.
Then the hooks don’t even reach the holes at the bottom of the poles. Then if you can manage to get that far, you have to run like crazy to get it tied down before if falls over. Bottom of screen doesn’t even tough the ground. We bought this screen tent about 2 years ago and just took it out of the box to put it up. I hate to say it but this thing is a piece of JUNK.
Wasn’t even able to get the tent set up in a mild wind before one of the corner plastic parts broke. I purchased my tent a couple of years ago, but time passed and just got it out to put it up. Also, one of the parts broke before using it one time. Now and then I walk into a store, it tends to be named ___Mart, and buy something I know is going to bring nothing but grief and heartbreak. Yes, I know it will, so what gives?

A Pavlovian reaction to super-size doses of advertising? Greed, optimism, stinginess, and materialistic guilt thrashing together in a dance of futility that leads straight to the checkout counter? To make matters worse, sometimes I’m so ashamed of the purchase that I can’t even bring myself to return it. The ozark trail screen house is 13 feet long and nine feet wide, with a standing space that tops out at seven feet high.
This is one of those products where the instructions are basically a complete fantasy. They make one false unstated assumption after another. And even then, they’re not simple. What you wind up with is a web of pipes and plastic pieces that falls apart at one end as you assemble the other.
After setting it up, it seems to me folks just don’t know how to exercise a little common sense and patience. The overall construction is about what you expect for the price. Got one of these out of a storage unit at auction. Obviously used, but in good shape. Without instructions, it took me about 30 minutes to put it together and get it erected, by myself.
