It’s safe to say that not everyone’s entirely on board with the idea of children’s e-bikes. However, here in the UK (where legally you need to be over 14 to ride one) a number of firms have been selling them for a while now – including kent road bike major names like Scott, Cube and Moustache. NABA’s 2019 figures also found e-bikes were used some 1.7 times more than traditional bikes. The bill would mean the removal of sales and use tax on e-bikes and related cycling equipment.
An led battery meter is mounted on the handlebars that also houses the power mode selector. The motor doesn’t add any assist unless the rider is pedaling, and the assist cuts out immediately when pedaling stops. The brake levers that control a pair of v-brakes also have sensors to cut kent hybrid bike motor power any time the brakes are pulled. The motor is supplied by an adorable little 24v 5.2Ah battery. In low power mode, the battery is sufficient for 15 miles (25 km) of range. Of course, if the battery ever runs out, the e-bike simply turns back into a standard pedal bike.
These are typically 24” or 26” mountain bikes, but the Kent Torpedo is particularly striking because it’s a 20” bike. Bike Rumour carries news of a new speed pedelec helmet from Endura. It is certified to speed pedelec standards (designed for greater speed impact and covering more of your head than a regular helmet) and features tilting visor and Koroyd Core honeycomb structured shock absorbing material. There are two battery options, 625Wh and the dual battery system of 1125Wh and a choice of Kiox and Nyon displays and dropped top tube frame on the single battery options.
We have hired electric bikes before and wanted to do it again. Marcus offered to be our guide which was great and meant we didn’t get lost. We joined him on a vineyard tour and the two younger kids were towed on their tag a long bikes. Marcus sorted a flat easy route that my son loved as he didn’t pedal once! We hired the bikes for a day to travel from Staplehurst train station to Sissinghurst Castle. Marcus was exceptionally helpful when I was arranging the hire.
Eunorau have been making e-bikes since 2010 and claim to output around 50,000 units a year with a global reach. The website also hosts a safety quiz that reinforces the messages seen in the videos about proper rider behavior, including where to ride and how to park. Scan the QR code on your phone or click on the link below to take the Safety Quiz.
There is comfortable looking bench seating, storage drawer and a rain hood. Vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians should be aware of the increasing eBike and eScooter traffic on campus. EBike and eScooter operators must review and adhere to the following rules and safety tips. However, on Wednesday, April 13, when I drove by the University Inn, I was not pleased to see TWO scooters laying down in the middle of the sidewalk. I have seen them just laying down in the grass beside a sidewalk.
The V-brakes similarly aren’t incredibly high quality, but then again, they work just fine. This is a $498 kids e-bike after all – not a $17,000 S-Works for lycra-clad dads. With a front suspension fork that isn’t much to write home about but still works just fine, the bike is somewhat sporty. We built a classic front yard ramp and had fun seeing who could get the most air.
