Genesis Commercial Bike Racks

Genesis champion themselves on built in practicalities that can be seen throughout the range, enabling their use daily across many different scenarios. As with the Day One, there are mudguards, rear pannier rack, and an internally geared rear hub for all weather dependability. A rim brake version is available in addition to the disc option and both come with Shimano Ultegra 2×11 groupsets. The maximum tyre size on bike is 28c, typical for rim brake set ups but relatively narrow for a bike with discs. But for races that are solely on roads, this should be more than adequate. The aero features of more expensive bikes are present, with cables are routed internally and the leading edges of the frame are smoothly rounded.

Part of this is down to the different frame material, but cheaper components are also a factor. A solid steel range and a smattering of aluminium and carbon models brings the brand bang up to date. 500 watt direct drive motor is quiet and capable but offers less torque and weighs more, no regen modes. Simple to operate with LED console and twist throttle only, no pedal assist or LCD…… More solid than earlier Phantom ebikes, does not fold and has reinforced battery pack supports. High end RockShox fork with lockout, upgraded pedals (that don’t fold) and hydraulic Avid DB……

The geometry is a little more upright, making for a more comfortable and less twitchy ride. There are mounts for mudguards and a pannier rack, which expands the range of use from just road riding to commuting and even lightweight cycle touring. Genesis bikes are built to push boundaries and inspire adventures no matter what type of cycling you love to do. The basics are there in full length mudguards, a rear pannier rack, and puncture resistant tyres. With clearance for tyres up to 38c and a steel frame that will be robust and help deaden the road chatter, this is a bike with the stamina to match your own. Prefitted mudguards and more puncture resistant city tyres are such examples.

Some of the low-step ProdecoTech bikes like the Stride R help eliminate this concern. The ProdecoTech Genesis 500 is one of the larger folding electric bikes around and it’s also one of the cheapest. As with most Prodeco ebikes this one uses a large gearless rear hub motor and rack mounted battery that sits just behind the seat post. It’s not the most elegant or well balanced design but it keeps the price low and works well with the simple twist throttle drive system.

Take your pick from their range of iconic builds such as the Croix De Fer, Fugio, CDA, Vapour, Datum & more. Ostensibly, this is a more budget-oriented version of the Vapour Carbon. Disc brakes remain present, but they have been changed to mechanical rather than hydraulic.

Instead of butted steel tubes, the CdA (Croix de Aluminium) is built on an alloy frame and carbon fork, so it’s actually lighter than the Croix de Fer 10. Yet it retains the rack and mudguard-compatible, smooth-riding wide-tyre versatility that Genesis disc brake-equipped cross/gravel bikes are famous for. In the early 2000’s many companies were using rear mounted packs because genesis mountain bike it’s easy and cheap, they didn’t have fancy pedal assist options and the computers were also very simple or non existent. The Genesis 500 brings updated Lithium batteries that are lighter and longer lasting and a variable speed twist throttle that is fun to use. Note that when I was test riding this bike I bumped my knee on the battery when swinging my leg over the back.

But more than that, there’s front and rear dynamo lights, so you never need worry about forgetting/neglecting to charge your lights. An internally geared hub goes a long way to weather proofing the genesis bike drivetrain, as do the full housed gear cables that help stop dirt degrading your shifting performance. The Datum comes with 32c tyres, which is a bit closer to the ‘road’ end of the spectrum.
