It was our recommended mop vac until last year, when Tineco released the Floor One S7 Pro, a more advanced model with a handful of new smart features and nearly double the runtime of the S5 Combo. The Floor One S7 Pro has more advanced smart features than the S5 Combo too, and getting started is easy. When you power it on after charging for the first time, you’ll get a guided video tutorial on the LED screen (which also indicates cleaning mode, battery level, and maintenance alerts). Once the clean water tank has fresh water and solution, you can begin the floor cleaning—and you barely have to push the thing since the motor is self-propelled. No matter what surface you need to clean, the BISSELL CrossWave floor and carpet cleaner is up to the task.
That said, the Samsung vacuum is considerably better at everyday vacuuming tasks. It performs much better on carpeted floors with its multi-surface floorhead, is easier to maneuver, weighs considerably less, and has a longer battery life. It easily clears away pet hair as well as small and bulky debris on this surface type, with no significant loss in suction performance as its dustbin fills up. Its mopping function is also quite effective in dealing with dried-on dirt and debris.

When you’re done, the S7 self cleans itself and charges on a dock that has additional storage for the included cleaning brush and spare microfiber roller. This model also comes with a cleaning brush, an extra HEPA filter, and a small bottle of cleaning solution concentrate (only a capful is needed for each cleaning cycle). It leaves the surface slightly damp but has no trouble clearing the water as a whole. While it has a less powerful motor than the corded BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro, that’s somewhat balanced out by its fluffier brushroll, which does a better job absorbing liquids. The real test for the CrossWave, though, was that Forbidden Zone of the tiled area by the stove. I moved the brightly colored little mop vac back and forth, doubled back, tripled back, and then moved on to clean another room while it dried.
I have on a number of occasions been unable to finish cleaning the tile flooring of our kitchen, family room, laundry room, powder room, and hallway, forcing the vacuum to be left to recharge for 4 hours. During that time, the cleaning solution goes from hot to cold, making the next usage cycle less optimal in cleaning effectiveness. As such, you have to prioritize which areas you want this appliance to clean and which remaining places to manually vacuum/sweep and mop. The CrossWave Cordless Max is the most feature-rich, premium of the CrossWave series, and is designed to vacuum and wash supported floors (and some area rugs) at the same time. Unlike dedicated dry vacuums and carpet cleaners, this appliance will not be as powerful as the aforementioned, but rather for general, daily use. While some mop vacs can technically be used on area rugs, none of the models I tested impressed me with their rug-cleaning abilities.

I spoke with fellow Epi staffer and recent mop-vac convert Emily Farris about her experience with her Tineco Floor One S5.
