But I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Ozark Trail 45 Liter Backpacking Backpack. Back in 2020 my wife and I decide on a last-minute backing trip to the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge. Before purchasing this pack I used a more traditionally styled, and heavier, backpack for daily walks. Every pound does add up and if you cut the weight down by 5+ lbs. Then it’s worth it for me to have a smaller bag. Super lightweight yet has a 40-liter capacity. Size is perfect for day trips, smaller individuals, and teens.
Its storage and treatment can add even more weight. I avoid Nalgene bottles because they’re heavy and bulky. Pouch for water storage and it doubles as a pillow filled with air and wrapped in fabric. I use one-liter Vapur collapsible bottles while walking. Ultimately, the good design for this product was that it was sized right for what I needed, both in dimensions and weight.
Used for its intended purpose, this is one of the best hiking/backpacking deals I’ve ever come across. They’re cheap, so I usually carry one in my daypack even though I rarely use it on multi-day backpacking trips. Deciding what needs to remain dry is essential.
If things don’t go as planned, you still might have great memories of your time in the wilderness, but with the addition of new learning to apply on your next trip.
