There’s also an auto start/stop ignition for quick one-hand ignition. The applications for this tool are also wide – use it to kill weeds, solder, braze, and bend metal, burn designs onto wood, and more. It’s clear after the first cut that this saw is built for power and speed when using the FLEXVOLT 60v battery.
The motor delivers 5,300-RPM for greater speed, while the 51° bevel with positive stop at 45° allows for a range of angled cuts with the durable carbide-tipped blade. The single-beam laser cut line ensures accuracy, and the dust blower increases visibility while cutting. The lower guard provides smooth, snag-free operation and narrower cut-offs, while the lightweight design allows you to work for longer durations with less fatigue. Vital safety measures include a power-on indicator and a safety lock/guarded trigger to prevent accidental starts, giving you peace of mind on the jobsite.
Shaving a couple of pounds off may equate to finishing the house sooner, which could contribute to your bottom line. With manufacturers working so hard to develop cordless tools, you also may wonder if these are the best fit for you. Homeowner-grade cordless saws have enough power to cut 2 x 3 and 2 x 4 lumber, pine planks, and plywood. We don’t see it as a house framing tool where you need a better combination of lightness and power.
But perhaps a better application for this is cutting form lumber for concrete and making cuts in industrial lumber used to shore up excavations and mines. In those applications, much of the cutting goes on at a central cutting station. Power and durability, not so much mobility, rule the day in those applications. And if you need those two features, this Milwaukee delivers. We didn’t pamper it, cutting Douglas fir framing lumber and red oak. Everything about the saw is excellent, from its workmanship to its reliable cordless power to the accuracy of its cut.
If you’re thinking of going cordless but you want pro performance, this is the one to get. Using a DCB205 battery, we can cut up to 369 linear feet of 3/4″ OSB. Battery and charger sold separately. Maximum initial battery voltage (measured without a workload) is 20 volt. We’re confident of the quality of our products, and we’ll repair, without charge, any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship within the specified warranty. The new range of DEWALT 20V MAX XR tools with POWER DETECT tool technology maximize performance when used with high-capacity XR batteries. Using the 20V MAX 8Ah battery, the DCS574 Circular Saw will output up to 54% more power and get 60% more runtime than the standard XR Circular Saw. The new range of DEWALT 20V MAX XR tools with POWER DETECT Tool Technology maximizes performance when used with high capacity XR batteries.
It feels stable in one hand or extremely secure using both hands with the forward grip. That means you have longer battery life on smaller tools when you need it AND more power on larger tools when you need that and it’s as easy as swapping the battery from one tool to the next. It’s an extremely versatile battery system providing for extreme ease of use which is something I am very interested in.
The blade sits off to the right side of the tool while both grips sit off to the left as you’re holding it. This means that neither hand has to reach over the top of the tool to secure with the auxiliary grip. Yes, the Craftsman’s motor is a bit smaller than the Skil in terms of its amperage, but the cutting performance dewalt tool between the two tools is negligible. Fortunately, if you apply a little extra due diligence, you can keep the saw cutting true. Electricians don’t often need a full-sized circular saw, more often than not we’re either cutting sheetrock or studs, so this little saw does a great job of dealing with small cuts like this.
