Keep your tee shot left and safely away from the trees on the right to give yourself a clear shot at the green. The long and narrow green angles back from left to right with a high mound on the back part of the green. This eye-catching peninsula green requires a solid iron shot to stay dry. We assembled and disassembled the tents on all of our testing sites multiple times. We tried the rain fly for each tent as well, one time rushing to get several of them up during an unexpected rainstorm at night. When heavy trade winds buffeted our Oahu-coast testing site, we pitched each tent in full face of the blast.
For the moment, my dream of an extra room in the back yard has come true. This is one of those products where the instructions are basically a complete fantasy. What you wind up with is a web of pipes and plastic pieces that falls apart at one end as you assemble the other. ‘Insert the leg poles into the hubs to raise the screenhouse frame’ got the first laugh. Any attempt to lift a corner and insert a leg pole resulted in pipes flying everywhere.
After first removing the models that failed the structural tests, we slept, watched the stars, and ate our meals in all of the tents, as well as planned hikes from them. Whether you’re thinking of hitting the road or staying close to home for your next car-camping adventure, you and your loved ones will need a comfortable place to sleep. However, one thing that hasn’t gone so smoothly is removing snow from the roof, which has proven to be quite the task. Despite that minor inconvenience, I’ve been overall satisfied with the Sojag Striano screen house.
One thing to note was that although the footprint is 13×9 ft, the actual covered area is not the same, being quite a bit smaller. The Ozark Trail Screen House does its job but needs to be used with the proper expectations. An ideal situation would be when the weather is agreeable and the wind is gentle. One of the standout features was the no-see-um mesh panels, which helped keep pesky insects at bay without obstructing our view of the beautiful surroundings. The PE splash guard also added an extra layer of protection from ground pests.
A footprint doesn’t take up much space, is relatively inexpensive, and is much easier to repair or replace than a tent bottom if it tears. A full rain cover, two vestibules, and an extra-sturdy pole structure make this the best choice for couples who want to get outside in any weather. It’s ozark trail canopy pricey, though, and unless the other couples’ tents we recommend, it doesn’t include a footprint. Canopy tents are great for summer outings, events and more. Use a beach tent for a bit of shade when visiting the shore, or use a pop-up tent to quickly set up a kiosk at a company function.
However, the Wireless 6’s poles were the best fiberglass ones we tested—they left no splinters, unlike those on the Camp Creek 6 or the Copper Canyon LX 6. The Wireless 6 goes up easily, using the same kind of intuitive pole and clip method as our couples’ pick. The fly is equally simple to attach and orient with color-coded clips. This type of pole tends to be less flexible and bulkier than pricier aluminum, and it can be a pain to handle. Finding a small, light tent is the logical approach when you’re backpacking. But with car camping—the industry term for what most people consider just camping—you’ll likely be parking next to your campsite and unloading.
However, there’s one glitch that almost ruined our camping trip. One of the poles was screwed into the wrong part of the connector piece, causing the tent to collapse repeatedly until we figured it out. We didn’t expect such an issue with a product that otherwise seems well-designed and durable. That mesh also keeps the tent feeling airy and cool in hot climates.
And this tent is easy to set up and pack down, especially considering its size. As with most six-person tents, the Wawona 6’s footprint ozark trail canopy is sold separately. Like our couples’ tent pick, the Wireless 6 is a dome-shaped tent with a tried and true two-pole design.
