Like many other models from the brand, Bissell’s Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus did not disappoint our testers — in fact, it’s one of the best Bissell vacuums we’ve ever tested in our Lab. The floor nozzle also contains a tangle-free brush roll that prevents pet hair from clogging the bristles. The BISSELL CleanView/CleanView Swivel Pet Rewind is a much better upright vacuum for cleaning pet hair than the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus. The CleanView Swivel is easier to maintain and can pick up pet hair on all surface types. It also has a significantly better performance on bare floors and a slightly better performance on low-pile carpets. However, the Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus uses a HEPA filter, has a much better performance on high-pile carpets, is significantly easier to maneuver, and feels better built.
My cat is almost 10 years old, which means I have been buying pet hair removers for close to a decade. That’s why I was excited to get my hands on the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. However, it does leave behind a noticeable amount of larger debris like cereal or rice.

For all my flat fabric surfaces, I used the motorized brush, and wow. It eliminated the hair from all of Big Red’s favorite hangout spots—the couch, my faux suede bar stools and the velvet chair in my office. I also tested it on the carpet near my bedroom window, where Red suns himself every day, and it dislodged all the hair stuck in the fibers there. It even pulled out the pesky feathers that were half-sticking out of my down pillows. It’s a wide, thick attachment, though, so I needed to switch when it came to tighter areas.
It’s reasonably effective at dealing with fine material that’s been worked into carpet fibers but pushes around larger debris like rice and cereal pieces. The drive belt for its floorhead also blocks a portion of its brushroll, so you’ll need to clean the same area more than once. However, while its hard plastic body has an otherwise acceptable build quality, it isn’t easy to maintain this vacuum. Some parts, like the brushroll, are difficult to remove, and it has frequent recurring costs. However, this vacuum has good maneuverability around electrical cords, and you can even configure the vacuum to reach under tables or couches.
Without attachments, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is still a dependable vacuum. It had no problem picking up stray debris from my hardwood floors in high-traffic spots like the litter box and food/water bowl areas. The suction wasn’t quite strong enough to get all the litter out of the mat I keep outside the litter box, but bissell vacuum cleaner it did a respectable job sucking up the litter that wasn’t trapped in the deeper layers. This vacuum does a great job of handling pet hair on furniture with its Pet TurboEraser tool. It’s a little awkward to use in this configuration, but aside from a few remaining short strands, it’s quite effective for this kind of task.
