No surprises, just great bikes that you can pay off with as low as 0% APR financing from Affirm on select bikes. Private sellers can now sell their bikes directly on the Bicycle Blue Book marketplace. Well thought out geometry, good looks and great handling make the Genesis Core 26.4 stand out as a great bike at a good price. An impressive fork at this price point and sensible kit are great and the wheels finish the package off nicely but the main attraction here is the geometry. Genesis supply the 27.2mm seat post, 75mm stem and 685mm medium rise bars, the Flux saddle is practical but may not suit everyone.
And with the landscape pulverised by the logging, it’s almost a blank slate as far as what they can build. “A lot of that Mystic Bowl area is being harvested at the moment, and further harvesting will happen over the next one or two years — which will actually knock out a lot of the classic Mystic trails, ” he says. “We’re going to use our genesis mountain bike Maydena management team to help upskill and train a local team over this winter period — because we’re obviously shut over this period anyway (so it’s great timing),” says French. The new electronic health record system finished deployment within the continental U.S. and successfully went live in Europe and the Indo-Pacific regions.
It’s got a rather large price tag, but it’s well in keeping with the likes of the Giro Aerohead MIPS helmet, so seems about right. On test, we found that the Sintesi provided good airflow and kept our head cool, although the 13 vents don’t offer anywhere to perch a pair of glasses. Outride provides evidence-based cycling interventions to improve social, emotional, and cognitive health.
The next big question is “what’s your budget?” As we go deeper into the specifications such as frame material and size, wheel size, and brakes, it’s important to have your price range in the back of your mind. Hardtails have a rigid frame and a single suspension fork in the front, which creates a few inches of travel. These can come with 26”, 27.5” or 29” wheel size and are available with any frame material. It’s for this ‘EPS volume loss’ reason that most helmet manufacturers will also recommend replacing a road bike helmet every three to five years. If a helmet doesn’t fit properly then it will not do the job it is designed for. Helmets are often available in different sizes relating to the circumference of your head.
They will then pay a lease straight to the Council to operate in the park, as opposed to different bits and pieces going back and forth. “In that system, Blue Dirt was paying fees to the Alpine Community Plantation for operation in the park, and then Alpine Community Plantation paid Blue Dirt to undertake maintenance work in the park. And then all of the membership revenue from day passes and annual memberships went back to Alpine Community Plantation, and then some of that was going back to Blue Dirt to pay for the maintenance. In November last year, the Council voted to take on governance of the park under a sublicense agreement, where the day-to-day operations would be contracted out to a professional operator through a tender process. The solution was to introduce the membership model, which, despite some initial grumbles, has largely been a success—especially considering the second option was to close the park.
The Core 26.4 came fitted with 2.2 Mountain Kings, the originals not the much improved Mountain King II. Over ten years the range expanded beyond commuter bikes to include road, mountain, cyclo-cross, gravel, kids and fat bikes. For fun, she’s ridden LEJOG unaided, a lap of Majorca in a day, genesis mountain bike won a 24-hour mountain bike race and tackled famous mountain passes in the French Alps, Pyrenees, Dolomites and Himalayas. Over this time frame, it’s also likely that it will be exposed to a lot of UV rays, which can weaken the plastic shell of a helmet too, compromising its safety.
It’s been a bit of a whirlwind in Bright, but we managed to catch up with Dirt Art and Elevation Parks Director Simon French to find out more about their role in Mystic and what’s planned for the bike park. Once you’ve decided which bike is right for you, you’ll need to factor in the size. For every sized bike there are frame measurements that are important to evaluate for proper bike fit. Mechanical disc brakes use traditional cables and cable housing that are the same used for the older type of brakes, v-brakes. However, instead of having brake pads that squeeze the rim of the tire to slow you down when you pull the brake lever, the brake pads squeeze a metal rotor mounted to the hub of the wheel. These are easier to install, adjust and replace due to the high availability of cables.
Also known as 650b wheels, these have developed as a happy medium between 29 and 26 inches. These have the fast acceleration and maneuverability known to the 26-inch but also tend to be a smoother ride going over bumps like the 29-inch, though not quite as smooth. That said, this stiffness can make for a rougher ride, as it lacks the absorbency that other frames provide. Due to the lack of a rear suspension system, these are generally lighter, more affordable, and easier to maintain. But a downside to this is that your legs act as the shock absorbers for the back wheel.
