Walmart: Ozark Trail 12′ x 12′ Instant Canopy $45

Voted #1 Aerial Adventure Park in America 2019, 2020, 2022 by USA Today. This cooler, when compared to the Pelican 45Q Elite and Yeti Tundra, has the smallest profile while still providing 45Q internal storage. It features rubber latches which I am a huge fan of for boating applications. When you are out on the water, people often sneak over to grab something from the cooler and may not latch it back up. With a hard plastic latch, you run the risk of brushing by the cooler and hitting your shin, which I have done and is awful.

That’s not the case with a slant leg canopy tent which, as you may have guessed, features legs that are slanted and form an angle of less than 90 degrees with the floor. Ten-person tents will comfortably fit six people, but are becoming increasingly popular for families of four looking for plenty of floor space to spread out. We love this feature because it won’t nip at your fingers and you can do one leg at a time.

The Pelican also features a different pull handle than the Yeti and Ozark coolers as well. I do think the Pelicans pull handle is the lowest on my list of the three. When it comes to the seal, I was again very impressed by this cooler. Cracking this ozark trail backpack thing open sounds like you are opening the airlock on a spaceship. You can tell there is a serious seal established when you latch this shut. The Ozark Trail 45 Qt Rolling Thermocooler also comes with an internal tray, which the other two do not.

Customers have mixed opinions about the performance of the portable freestanding shelter. Some mention that it does the job nicely and looks good doing it, while others say that it’s a waste of time, effort, and money. They mention it has a nice feature to release the frame lock when taking it down. It sticks to the classics, with a very traditional design that works. There may not be many bells and whistles, but we don’t think it’s necessary here. With this model, you receive a free carry bag with wheels for easier transport, and 4 stakes and ropes to tie and secure it down.

In practice this took more elbow grease than I was expecting, to the point that I worried the fiberglass poles would break (they did not). I arrived at the group site Friday midday to get everything set up. During that initial phase, I considered how intuitive (or not) the tents were to assemble, durability of the component parts, and the size and shape of the footprint. It was a familiar scenario for anyone who has been camping in the Pacific Northwest. Reservations were made for a Memorial Day weekend group site months ago, but as the actual long weekend got closer, the forecast started to look bleak. The feet areas of the legs are also something to mention, as they are shaped like pads instead of a simple pole.

Instant set up has become a huge selling point for many models out there. A lot of gazebos on the market, soft tops and hard tops, can take an hour or more to pitch which can be a big downfall when you want something quick and easy. To prevent any build-up of humidity or stuffiness, these openings suck in air whilst also letting hot air rise and escape. It’s typically used by families, couples, or groups of friends going to outdoor events, but we can see it being used for more commercial purposes. A couple of elements make it standout from a regular shelter, like the upper vents in the roof and the upgraded all-steel structure. The legs are locked into place with old school metal push button locks, something you won’t see on many modern pop up tents now-a-days. These push locks get very difficult to use over time, especially if the tent is used on the beach and exposed to sand and saltwater, causing rust build up. Many newer tent brands like EZ-Up use revolutionary thumb lock sliders or larger easy to release buttons, which are a much better user experience when setting the canopy up or taking it down. With the push buttons you need to worry about pinching fingers or not being able to release the button when it gets rusted, which is never a pleasant experience. The legs extend to give the top peak a height of about 8’10” which will be plenty of headroom for anyone underneath.

Larger tents, including the best 8-person tents and the best 10-person tents do not. Plan to bring along the directions if this is your first time setting one up. In the end, with much perseverance, I was able to put up every one of these 10-person tents by myself. But it was a real bear with the two cabin style tents, simply because they were so much taller than everything else. If you’re on the shorter side, I’d recommend choosing a tent that is likewise a little bit shorter to help streamline the setup process.

Customers find the portable freestanding shelter easy to set up and take down. They mention that the storage bag goes on pretty easily, and the initial difficulty installing disappeared quickly. It’s advertised as a 10×10 tent, but your canopy is actually ozark trail chair 7.8’ x 7.8’, for about 61 square feet of space under the canopy. If canopy coverage is important to you, this is a very good reason to go with a straight-leg option. Yeti has clearly set themselves apart as the biggest player in the cooler space.
