To test out the Ozark Trail Thermos line, I used the baseline temperature of 185 degrees Fahrenheit for all of the products I tested. My goal was to see how long I could keep a cup of coffee warm and if there would be variation in temperatures over time across the tumblers. I also used two of the 22oz Tumblers, one with the standard open mouth lid and one with a closed, spill proof lid. It features a double wall vacuum seal design and is built from high-grade 18/8 stainless steel. When purchasing from Walmart’s website, you have the option of selecting one of 4 colors; black, mint, silver, or tan.
Once the lids are placed on to the Tumblers you can see a bit more in relation to how they work. With the locking lid, there appears to be more heat transference than the open mouth lid. Even with the locking lid absorbing more heat, it does provide a few degrees more heat retention over time. I tested the temperature using a Weber meat thermometer which was $15 off the shelf.
This cooler, when compared to the Pelican 45Q Elite and Yeti Tundra, has the smallest profile while still providing 45Q internal storage. It features rubber latches which ozark trail tumbler I am a huge fan of for boating applications. When you are out on the water, people often sneak over to grab something from the cooler and may not latch it back up.
Both tumblers look very much the same, so it is a no-contest in this area. But again, these are different products for different purposes. The Rambler Lowball is the mini version of the tumbler but unlike the Ozark Trail which is 12 ounces, it is only 10 ounces. Changing beverages won’t be a problem as there will likely not be a residual taste in the tumbler as long as you clean it thoroughly.
Watching ice melt was probably the most difficult task of the tests I performed—only because it seemed to take forever for the ice to melt in each tumbler. I started the test first thing when I got to the office and was waiting for hours on end. By the time I left the office about eight hours later, the ice still wasn’t entirely melted and the water levels in both tumblers seemed to be at the same level. I decided to first see how well they would perform against each other. After filling both tumblers with two cups of ice (about enough to fill each to the top), I left the tumbler out on my dining table, and every six hours I would check on the level of ice. At the 12-hour mark, both cups were still filled more than halfway with ice.
There is also over a century of scientific research that has been conducted specifically focused on how temperature can impact your taste buds. Yeti has a generous 5 year warranty, which is longer than I usually use any tumbler or water bottle anyway. The only complaint I might have is that in the 30 ounce size, both are a bit difficult to grip if you have small hands. I love being able to use the dishwasher to be sure it’s clean and for the convenience. They aren’t porous like plastic tumblers so they won’t stain or retain odors. Ozark Trail and Yeti both offer two packs in 20 oz and 30 oz sizes.
Estimated shipping time is approximately 3-5 business days from the time your order is placed and is subject to change. If you wish to nab an Ozark Trail tumbler, I suggest checking online first. The tumblers sell out regularly in stores and online, so it’s best to check store inventory on Wal-Mart’s website before heading out to your nearest location. By far one of the biggest bargains I’ve featured in a Fab or Flub? Column, the Ozark Trail tumbler is 75 percent cheaper than its competitor and carries a lifetime warranty.
When I wake up the next morning, the majority of the ice is still there! Even when I use my cup outside or leave it in a hot car and the ice eventually melts, the water stays ice cold for hours and hours. One of the things I like about the Yeti cups or cups like them, is the fact that it keeps your water really cold. I’ve tried many different ways to insure I get my water in, but I never seem to do it…mainly because every other cup I’ve ever tried never seemed to keep my water ice cold.
