It provides a true 144 square feet of cooling relief anywhere in just minutes. Simply extend the one-piece steel frame on this Ozark Trail instant canopy, attach the top, extend the legs, and you’re done. The canopy fabric is made of a lightweight denier polyester, offering water resistant features and 50+ UPF, which we love. Being protected from the suns harmful UVB rays is probably why you wanted a canopy tent in the first place, and this Ozark Trail tent meets all criteria in this department. The one complaint we have is that there is no vents in the fabric at the peak to release the build up of hot air under the canopy. Most new tents incorporate this ventilated canopy design to increase airflow and reduce the trapping of hot air, helping to keep those in the shade cooler and more comfortable.
I just bought the 9’x7′ backpacking tent 2 days ago, because I want to do some bikepacking here in FL. It is easy to set up and take down, and I loved the fact that it has three windows for lots of circulation in the heat and humidity. The first time I got it set up was about that same day. My parents decided to do it and the setup was decent. Over a hundred and seventy dollar Ozark Trail tent completely fell apart on me and my daughter.
One day into a 3-day festival, I returned to camp to find both of the large poles snapped right in two. Every single one of our camping experiences has been ruined because of the OZARK tent. I would like a response to this please and I do expect some compensation of some kind! Every time we put some faith in these tents we got let down. We have never been able to sleep in it and makes a poor storage room.
An argument can be made as to whether this is good or bad. From a positive perspective, the lightweight design increases portability which is certainly important in carrying the tent to its intended location. From a negative perspective, the weight is indicative of a lack of high quality material and components used throughout the shelter. The included carrying bag does not have wheels to aid in transportation, but at only 29 lbs.
The people who make your zippers should quit and get another profession. Your zippers are the worst in all camping gears I have bought. Because adventure is not a destination, it’s a lifestyle. A mesh storage pocket provides safe storage for small items such as sunglasses, cellphones and wallets. The built-in roof vent provides increased airflow into the canopy.
The top features dual roof vents and remains easily attached with hook and loop fasteners to the frame. The legs are locked into place with old school metal push button locks, something you won’t see on many modern pop up tents now-a-days. These push locks get very difficult to use over time, especially if the tent is used on the beach and exposed to sand and saltwater, causing rust build up. Many newer tent brands like EZ-Up use revolutionary thumb lock sliders or larger easy to release buttons, which are a much better user experience when setting the canopy up or taking it down.
They claim they are weather tested, but I feel they don’t include rain or wind as elements of the weather. I could make a better shelter out of cardboard boxes and scotchgard. Also using a ground cover under the tent (seems obvious to me) will help prevent water from coming in from the underside of the tent. Not the best, but certainly better than other shelters I’ve stayed in. At least it is easy to clean and provides bug protection. It is an Ozark Trail Dome Tent that is a 4-person tent.
