Shimano Tourney TX800 8-speed derailleur and shifters are paired with a no-name crank and mechanical disc brakes. Front and rear fenders and a rear rack come standard on the Electric Cruiser, which was a bit of a surprise, given its relatively low price. Most of the people buying this bike will love the wide, padded saddle and upright ride position, but adjusting the saddle angle was next to impossible. If you’re looking for an inexpensive ebike for casual weekend rides, the Kent Electric Cruiser demands consideration. The price means that it lacks some of the advanced features of many electric models, and even more basic ones like quick release, but it looks great and rides well.
The front and rear mechanical disc brakes offer powerful and reliable stopping power, in all weather conditions. 700 x 40c hybrid tires offer a comfortable and stable ride, while the alloy adjustable stem and quick release adjustable saddle allow for a customized fit. The 350 watt rear hub motor provides a pedal-assisted boost that gives you the power you need to tackle any incline, while the lithium-ion battery delivers long-lasting kent electric bike power. The handlebar-mounted controller display has 3 speed settings, letting you easily switch between electric assist modes, and provides up to 40 miles of boosted range. Whether you’re commuting to work or running errands around town, the 700c Kent Hybrid E-Bike is the perfect companion for an efficient and enjoyable ride. Their all-terrain tires provide go-anywhere traction so you can ride with confidence.
Kent Cycle will only accept trade-ins from IBD direct manufacturers. Kent Cycle has access to a wide range of bicycles styles and manufacturers. Alongside the 27-inch Kent Electric and Kent Step-Through Electric, the Cruiser is more of a unisex offering and is available exclusively from Walmart. Having not ridden Kent’s new e-bike (yet, but hopefully that changes), it’s hard for me to judge it too hard on the spec sheet alone. But for the $1,498 price, it’s at least an interesting addition to a slew of Walmart e-bikes that so far haven’t taken a shot at such higher-end (or perhaps even midlevel) markets. Our staff stays on top of trends when it comes to new gear and accessories.
The first half was mainly uphill and the bikes performed magnificently. The last 7 miles turned into an obscure, unmaintained dirt/gravel downhill road covered in sticks, pinecones, sharp rocks, and other precarious tire-popping rubbish. Somehow, me and my wife made it the whole 16 miles without a flat and with our brains intact. Reviews often mentioned bad batteries, broken bike parts, or other annoying setbacks, and having a 90-day return policy was extremely important for peace of mind. Second, at $500 and with free shipping, these bikes are about half the price of other brands.
