BISSELL is committed to helping people and their pets share happy, healthy homes. Family-owned with a unique dedication to and love for pets, BISSELL® is the pet-inspired homecare brand you can feel good about purchasing. Through its support of BISSELL Pet Foundation®, every purchase of a BISSELL® product helps save a homeless pet in need. “BISSELL has a history of intentional innovation dating back to 1876 with the original carpet sweeper,” said Max Bissell, president of wash and global sales. “We have developed beloved home cleaning solutions like the Little Green®, and the CrossWave OmniForce is our latest invention in the hard floor category.” The NEW two-in-one, cordless wet dry vac allows users to vacuum and mop together or powerfully vacuum alone.
Halve your cleaning time with our range of BISSELL® CrossWave® wet dry vacuum cleaners! CrossWave® is a two-in-one multi surface cleaner that vacuums and mops hard floors and refreshes low-pile rugs at the same time. Super easy and convenient bissell vacuum cleaner to use, these revolutionary floor cleaners feature twin tank technology so you are always cleaning with fresh water and BISSELL solution. Ditch the old vacuum and mop and make life less messy with the BISSELL® CrossWave® range of products.
Cleaning with my CrossWave is such a breeze that I regret not investing in one sooner. It swivels and glides with ease—maneuvering around furniture and corners takes almost no effort. I also love that you can switch from cleaning hard floors to rugs with a push of a button. Because the vacuum sucks up most of the liquid used to clean, the floor dries within a few minutes. Back in the old manual-mop days, most of the floors in my apartment took at least 15 minutes to air-dry, and the tile floor by the stove always stayed wet for at least half an hour. Its floorhead pivots, allowing you to maneuver around obstacles pretty easily.
Another selling point of the Crosswave is that unlike the other devices, which are marketed as “hard floor cleaners,” the Crosswave’s mop vac function is indicated for area rugs, too. But it’s not a true carpet cleaner and I wasn’t impressed with the rug-cleaning power of any of the Crosswaves I tried. In fact, I tested all 12 mop vacs on my rugs and they were all underwhelming. It’s bissell vacuum cleaner heavier, didn’t pick up as much on the first pass, left more water on the floor, and didn’t alert me when the clean water tank was empty. The fresh water comes from the machine’s fresh water tank and works with a rotating soft brush roller to mop the floor. In the same pass, the mop vac sucks the used water back into a separate dirty water tank where it filters out any solid debris.
While it’s technically not a smart device, it does have a backlit LED display with visual alerts for battery level, power mode, and brush roll tangles. It will also let you know if the dirty water tank is full or if the clean water tank is empty. After hours and hours of testing models priced from $140 to $750 in 2022, I confirmed that nothing performed better than the cordless Tineco Floor One S5 Combo.
I spoke with fellow Epi staffer and recent mop-vac convert Emily Farris about her experience with her Tineco Floor One S5. While I live with just one roommate, her cleaning situation is a bit different. “I have two small kids, a messy husband, and a big, hairy rescue mutt,” she tells me. She’s also not a fan of cleaning out the dirty water tank, but we both agree that it’s a small price to pay.
I was impressed and surprised by how much dirt is picked up within the dirty water tank, and the convenience of this appliance makes it easier to perform quick cleanings on a more regular basis. Because a mop vac effectively and efficiently mops a floor while also sucking up dirt and debris, it cuts cleaning time in half. So if you have a substantial amount of flooring not covered by carpet, and you would like to spend less time cleaning those floors, a mop vac is for you. The BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max does an excellent job of handling pet hair on bare floors, though you might need to make an extra pass to clear away all of it on low-pile carpet. It can run for almost 40 minutes on a single charge, which should give you enough time to clean most rooms without running out of charge. It doesn’t offer any distinct suction power modes that would drain its battery any faster, though using its detergent dispersal function continuously might drop its runtime slightly.
Ideal for regular, routine cleaning as well as those messy accidents that simply happen in an active family home. 25 minutes of uninterrupted run time enables you to simultaneously vacuum, wash and dry multiple rooms and floor types in the average sized house. And to learn more about how I tested mop vacs, how they work, and which models didn’t make the shortlist, keep reading. Though the breadth of the brand’s offerings in the vacuum mop combo category can be a bit overwhelming (more on that later), I highly recommend two Tineco models at different price points.
