I loved the cute color combination, but more importantly, it was functional and durable. Its design was thoughtful, with multiple pockets and compartments that made organizing my gear a breeze. And with its adjustable straps, it was comfortable to wear even when carrying a heavy load. It’s hard to guess which kids will take to hiking like a fish to water and which ones will beg off.

Enjoy views of the Ozark landscape as you gain 500 feet of elevation up 2.5 miles to the top of Stegall Mountain. Camp out at the top overnight, catching a glimpse of a full sky of stars if it’s clear. I’ve carried it in bad weather, including rain and snow.
But as I pushed this bike up the first steep paved hill I encountered, being passed along the way by pros heading off to the U.S. Mountain Bike Pro Cup, I saw more pushing in my future in the Ozarks. Since portions of the Ozark Trail haven’t been built yet, our ozark trail backpack goal is to walk the finished sections. We began working our way from south to north with the Eleven Point, Between the Rivers, and Current River sections. For this hike, we’ll continue north on the Blair Creek, Karkaghen, and Middle Fork John Roth sections.
The last 200 miles would detour along a mix of paved and harder-packed gravel roads closer to highways. Flats became a nonissue without larger jagged stones to bottom out the tires. For general, entry-level consumers, prioritizing smooth shifting over range with budget hardware makes sense.
My shoulders did not chafe nor rub or irritate while walking and I did not get any bruising on my hips. I only walked about a mile away on a dirt trail to the showers but it was not a flat surface and the equiptment on my back was stable. Fast and easy to adjust and all buckles and webbing are in good quality. I bought this pack recently on a whim while shopping Walmart.
I purchase dried chicken from Mountain House and add it to most meals. Results are best if I place the chicken and vegetables in water when I first arrive at camp to increase their hydrating time. This is a personal choice because I’d rather have some wetness on my lower body and not be sweating and cold all over. I sweat under the best of rain shells when hiking hard in moderately cold temps. The umbrella gives me a little roof to walk under, but it’s not for everybody.
Durable, versatile and full of storage, the Ozark Trail Shiloh Multi Compartment 35L Backpack is ready for whenever and wherever you go. I carried this daypack back n forth on a trail to the shower while camping. The bag stayed in place on my back using the sternum strap. We like that this pack has a lot of pockets including a zipper that allows you to access the middle of the pack without opening the top. Includes Trekking pole attachment points, compression straps and a sleeping bag compartment. Just about every other daypack I’ve had falls apart under the weight of my books (med school).
However, between myself, camera equipment, racks, bags, fishing gear, and more, I’d be pushing 265 pounds on the trail. The soft sidewalls would need extra pressure to keep from bottoming out on rough descents. It also made economic sense, which aligns with the Walmart brand. If things go well, you’ll gain lifelong memories of indescribable beauty and the satisfying sense of personal accomplishment.
