Beginner and intermediate level trails traverse the park and golf course. We have a partnership with American Sailing Institute who work to provide an enjoyable, safe, hands-on educational environment while teaching the tradition of sailing. An 8.5 mile paved Hike-Bike Trail traverses the picturesque landscapes that circle Kent Lake. Kensington Metropark and Island Lake State Recreation Area is connected via a paved connector going underneath I-96.
You can purchase your permit when you arrive at the General Store or online ahead of your visit to save time. If you plan to be a Windrock regular, then your best bet is an annual permit that allows access to the trail system for one year. From kent road bike buses to vanpools to services for people with special transportation needs, public transit is an essential piece of our transportation system. For many, public transit is a primary connection to work, school, health care, groceries and family.
The Park has a full-service campground, General Store and various events throughout the year. The Park is located in Oliver Springs, TN, just 20 minutes northwest of Knoxville with convenient access to both I-75 and I-40. The chair is available to rent for FREE Tuesday through Sunday each week between May 1 and October 31. Please note, a companion or attendant is suggested as Metroparks staff will not be able to assist with transfers. Single-lane eastbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 11 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane eastbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single-lane westbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 11 am next morning.

To determine the size slip which you require, measure your boat at the widest point between the sides, which determines the beam of the craft. Take this measurement and add four-to-six inches to the beam measurement to determine what class of boat slip you will require. Please bear in mind that you must provide adequate slip protection for your boat, plus, be able to navigate in and out of the slip. This measurement is critical; miscalculation could put your boat in an undersized category, which will require its removal from the slip. It is your responsibility to be familiar with each of the three slip rental areas as to their specific location, launching ramp availability, placement of the slips and the mooring options available for your boat.
