This is a bike that will zip around town without a second thought. The Venerable Croix de Fer frameset has been a mainstay of the Genesis range since 2009. The frameset is incredible versatile and lends itself to a multitude of different builds. You could put 38c tyres on it and go bike-packing on some gravel, or you could put front and rear pannier racks on, throw in some mudguards, and take it on an around the world tour. You could even commute, go on road rides, use it as a utility shopper. With a front platform rack and rear pannier stand, the Brixton is Genesis’s top-of-the-line utility bike.
One year on Vin Cox set off from The Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London. Some 163 days and 18,000 miles later, he returned a world record breaker. Capable on and off road, it was a gentle step away from our original Vapour and towards a bike that was intended to go further… but we never imagined quite how much further. Despite this, its machines tend to evolve rather than needlessly reinvent themselves. Genesis’s latest 2021 range seeks to build on this tendency, with most of the brand’s compact offering simply tweaked to make them more user-friendly. While many people will pretend to have liked something before it was cool, in the case of British brand Genesis, we’ll reserve our usual incredulity.
From there, we’ll discuss how we can get your bike back up to speed with a service package, on-the-spot adjustments, or replacement parts. We’ll also create an itemized receipt to make sure you’re comfortable with repair costs before we get to work. With its proportions, and tapered headset it can have many higher end components added the bike to make it comparable to bikes much more expensive than it is.
It’s a much better learning curve for the novice, because afterward, whether the bike is replaced with a 2× or a 1×, you’ll be able to master it more quickly. Due to being disc brake only, the bridge between the seatstays could be removed. This further increases mud clearance and also adds to the frame’s compliance, providing better control. Definitely not a versatile bike; this is designed with only CX racing in mind and makes no compromises – except for, perhaps, its two sets of bottle bosses. There aren’t mounting points for front or rear pannier racks; strap on bike-packing bags are the weapon of choice here. Some practically remains, with downtube bottle bosses (useful for holding extra water or a tool keg) and discrete mudguard mounts.
The Tour de Fer is a steel touring-specific bike with a longer, stable wheelbase, and comes complete with mudguards and racks. The Genesis Tarn is a steel-framed short-travel hardtail with 120mm travel and 27.5in wheels, and is equipped with Maxxis Rekon tyres. Genesis produces bikes for all cycling disciplines, including road, mountain, cyclocross, gravel/adventure and commuting.

At the time, we weren’t sure if people would get it, so we hedged slightly, labelling it as a cross bike in the truest sense of the word. Our bikes will take you to those places, fulfill your curiosities and make you remember why going for a ride is one of life’s most brilliant experiences. The best riding is off the beaten track, on that road – or path – to who knows where.
These are Genesis’ entry-level road bikes and are the cheapest in their range. The geometry is a little more upright, making for a more comfortable and less twitchy ride. There are mounts for mudguards and a pannier rack, which expands the range of use from just road riding to commuting and even lightweight cycle touring. At the entry-level, the Delta is an aluminium frame and carbon fork road bike with endurance geometry that comes with rim brakes and provides a comfortable ride.
Not too long and well balanced with none of the ‘too much weight on the wrists’ feeling that sometimes comes on trail hardtails. Kit wise the Genesis is sensibly specced, Shimano Deore takes care of transmission duties with a SLX rear derailleur, brakes are Deore too. It’s made from high-strength aluminum, so it’s also very light-weight. genesis mountain bike I think smaller wheel-diameter tires would perform a little better here. This top-down forest road singletrack trail is lined with intermingling trees and has many turns. At first, I was a little concerned about whether it would cause a sightline obstruction, but as soon as the tires started rolling, I knew it wouldn’t be a problem.
So it is a little lighter than the Genesis 26″ V2100 Mountain Bike, and a little more flexible when dealing with off-road climbs. And as the brand has always insisted, a lower stand-up height would be more suitable for women. It can be rated as one of the cheapest mountain bikes with good value for money. Smoothly adjusting the gears during the ride can have a good riding experience, especially on mountain roads with up and down hills.
